Trouble signing in?

I do not know my password. Where can I get my password?
If you do not know your password, you can select the Forgot your password link from the Sign in page. The system will prompt you to enter your User ID and the answer to the security question that you provided when you registered. Once the system has validated your information, you will be able to reset your password.

Company Administrators are authorized to reset passwords for users and other Administrators within your company. If you are still experiencing problems and you are the only Administrator for your company, please call the Minnesota Child Support Division at the phone number listed on the Contact us page.


I have already registered and I am having trouble signing in. Am I doing something wrong?
If you are entering your user ID correctly, you might be entering the wrong password. Passwords are case sensitive. You must enter all the characters of your password.


Trouble registering?

I keep getting the "Invalid FEIN Entered" message.
Be sure to enter your employer Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN) correctly using only numbers, no spaces or dashes. If you have entered the FEIN correctly, please complete and mail or fax the Update Employer Information form to the address or fax number listed on the form. The FEIN and Zip Code combination must match what we have on our system. We will update the information on our system and you can try again in three business days from the date you mailed or faxed the form. If you are still unable to sign in after three business days, please call the Minnesota Child Support Division at the phone number listed on the Contact us page.


I keep getting the "Employer already registered" message.
The FEIN you entered matches an employer that has already been registered with Minnesota Child Support Online. Select Sign in under Registered employers and enter your User ID and password.


I am registering for the first time and have not received my temporary password via email. I have misplaced or deleted my temporary password email.

Why doesn't anything happen when I select the Register and Sign in link on the Welcome page?
Pop-up blockers may prevent you from signing in. If you have pop-up blocking software installed, turn off your pop-up blocking software, close and reopen your browser and try the link again. If you have the web site bookmarked or listed as a favorite, close your browser and open a new session. Type in the web address www.childsupport.dhs.state.mn.us Click on Employers and then sign in under Registered Employers and enter your User ID and password.

If a new browser window still does not open, contact your computer manufacturer's technical support or your Internet service provider (ISP). The secure portion of the Child Support Online web site uses SSL for encryption.


Questions about employee terminations?

I am trying to process an employee termination, but the employee does not appear on my employee list. What should I do?
The employee will not appear on the employee list if the employee was not reported through the New Hire Reporting system at the time of the hire.

In this situation, please mail the employee termination to the county child support office listed on the income withholding papers you should have received earlier. If you do not know where to send the termination notice, you may please call the Minnesota Child Support Division at the phone number listed on the Contact us page.


Will I receive information proactively from the county child support office telling me to process the employee termination through the web site?
No. Please process the employee termination as soon as possible after the employee leaves your employment.


Display problems?

The MCSO web pages don't look quite right on my computer, am I doing something wrong?
MCSO is designed to function with the Windows Internet Explorer "Compatibility View" setting turned off. If your compatibility view is turned on when viewing the MCSO website, the pages may appear distorted. For more information about the "Compatibility View" setting, please consult your Windows Internet Explorer Help and Support link.


Want to change your company's information?

What do I do if my company changes FEIN numbers or is bought out by another company?
Complete and mail or fax the Update Employer Information form to the address or fax number listed on the form.


Questions about making online payments?

How do I submit payments for more than one pay date using Make a payment?
You can enter the additional pay dates when entering the amounts for each employee by clicking on Additional Pay Periods or you can enter another payment and use the other pay date and a different withdrawal date. You are not allowed to enter more than one payment to be withdrawn on the same business day.


I have an employee who has more than one case. How do I enter the amounts on Make a payment?
Enter the total amount submitted for the employee as one payment. You are not allowed to submit more than one amount per employee per withholding.


How do I update my bank information?
Click the Payroll management tab and then click on Update group. You will then be able to enter your new banking information for each payroll group by selecting each group separately.


How do I get your ACH ID? I have a debit block on my account and I need to inform my bank of your ACH ID.
