Child Support Task Force Needs Parent Members

On June 1, 2016, Governor Dayton signed legislation creating the task force to advise the Department of Human Services (DHS) on maintaining effective and efficient child support guidelines to best serve Minnesota’s children.

The DHS Commissioner must appoint four parents to the task force, including at least two parents representing diverse social and cultural communities. Task force members should be able to:

• Attend monthly meetings, at least two hours long, that may occur in the evenings or on weekends

• Travel to meetings in St. Paul or surrounding communities

• Objectively consider complex economic data and policy issues

DHS will pay parent task force members $55 per day plus mileage and reimburse meal expenses to offset the significant commitment.

The vacancy posting and online application are on the Minnesota Secretary of State’s website at http://www.sos.state.mn.us/media/2605/july-2016.pdf. The application deadline is July 27, 2016. Contact Tara Borton at tara.borton@state.mn.us with questions or concerns.
